Preparation ...
having recently read Mark Twain's "Roughing It" (most of it anyway), Steinbeck's "Travel's with Charley", Bill Bryson's "A Walk in the Woods", a lesser known but just as enjoyable NZ author's (Justin Brown) book "Teed off in the USA" and now entering Jack Kerouac's "On the Road", I feel suitably motivated to take on my version the great American ROAD TRIP.
The Route:
I have not ben able to finish up at work in time for the Burning Man festival, so I have adjusted my route accordingly ... well what there was of one that is. You see, though trying not to be too rigid in my travel plans, my route have remained a little vague. However, roughly:
ARRIVE SAN FRAN Sept 7th
Purchase American vehicle (preferably a Beast... )
Head South & East after some fun time there ... taking in the Redwoods, some desert, VEGAS ...
(keep tuned if you want specifics ...!) ... the Appalachians, NYC ...the New England Fall, eventually heading back across the top of the Mid West to SAN FRAN for the return to NZ, Nov21st - 23rd(Kiwi time)
Coincindentally, this route is almost Steinback's Travel's with Charley in reverse.
